My WiFi stops working when I connect the USB-C Adapter / Hub, what can I do?

USB 3.0 / 3.1 / 3.2 generates signals in the 2.4 – 2.5GHz range. Under circumstances with certain devices you might therefore experience wireless interference issues with WiFi and 2.4GHz wireless devices such as a Bluetooth mouse / keyboard or wireless mouse / keyboard. This can cause WiFi or wireless devices to disconnect or perform poorly. This especially happens when the WiFi module of your notebook or desktop is positioned close to the USB port.

You can limit the potential interference with the following actions:

  • Plug your USB-C Adapter / Hub into another USB-C port
  • Move your USB-C Adapter / Hub to another position
  • Use high-quality shielded cables for your devices
  • Try using a USB-C extension cable to move the USB-C Adapter / Hub further away from your notebook or desktop
  • In case you are experiencing WiFi issues: change to a 5GHz network and avoid using a 2.4GHz network
